Councils are cleaning their popular beaches
Most popular city beaches are cleaned by tractors with special rakes. These remove all the natural material like seaweed along with dangerous litter washed up or left by people. The tractors leave large piles of washed up beach debris to be taken away in a truck. This makes the beach safer from syringes and other dangerous items like broken glass bottles. It becomes more difficult to find wildlife where beaches are cleaned by mechanical means.
Next time you are at the beach, look for somewhere the tractor can’t drive. Look for the natural items like seaweed and sponges. Look for the kinds of litter that have also either been washed up or left by people.
