Where some of the pollution starts

When it rains litter is washed down stormwater drains

Have you noticed how clean the streets and footpaths look after rain? The rainwater has washed all the grime, dirt, dust, litter and pollution down the stormwater drain. Anything near a gutter including leaves, lawn clippings and especially plastic litter will be carried away.

Much of the litter and pollution at your beach and in the sea started in our streets and around our homes. Some plastic bottles might even end up circling the Antarctic, while a plastic bag could be eaten by a turtle or shark.
