Rockpool ecology

Most of the different kinds of sea life can be found in rockpools. Many of the seaweeds and marine animals spend all of their lifecycle in a rockpool. Some animals spend some time in rockpools while others will move in and out with the tide.

Rockpool sea life is affected by the tide going in and out twice each day, by pounding waves and by the hot sun.

Because there is so much life in rockpools, they are visited by many different birds looking for food. Many larger fish come in on the high tide also looking for food.
