Tropical pearl farm

Aquaculture

  • Special care has to be taken when stock is removed from one location to be transported to a new place
  • Equipment including boats must be maintained so it does not have a build up of biofouling.

 Oil rigs

  • Oil rigs at sea in Australian waters must also reduce the buildup of biofouling.

Government vessels including the Royal Australian Navy

  • All government vessels have to comply with the regulations to reduce the chance of pests being transported in ballast water or through biofouling of the hull and other areas of a ship or boat.

 Aquariums

  • Aquariums must avoid the release of any foreign animals or plants into the sea. If animals or plants must be disposed of they must make sure it is done properly. Each start and territory will have its own regulations.
