What to do if you find entangled wildlife

This penguin was rescued from entangling litter

Most of the entangled wildlife on our beaches will have died at sea and their bodies washed up. If the animal is still alive it may be possible to save it. It is best not to handle the animal but to ring for help.

These are some of the people who can help:

  • The RSPCA (Royal Society for the Protection of Animals)
  • The animal ranger at the local council
  • If you live in the area, you can contact your local vet
  • The closest zoo or fauna park
  • An animal wildlife shelter.
