Cigarette butts take many years to decompose. Each year tens of millions of butts become litter. Some smokers regularly drop their butts on footpaths and in gutters where they will be washed down drains. Now that smokers are not allowed to smoke in public buildings they often hang around the entrance of buildings smoking and dropping their butts.

The cleaner in this photo sweeps the footpath almost everyday. The office workers in the building are also dropping their cigarette packs.

Have you seen many butts littering the footpaths at the entrance of public buildings and shopping centres?
