Our health and safety

Dangerous litter can injure people

These are a few of the risks to people that litter and other pollution can have:

  • Cutting feet on broken glass and other sharp litter.
  • Having needlestick injuries from discarded syringes.
  • Becoming sick or having infected eyes from swimming in polluted water where there are harmful bacteria.
  • Jamming a boat propeller when the propeller or rudder is caught in discarded fishing lines, nets, or plastic.
