About photo surveys

Can people who are not experts record their environment?

It takes a large team of expert scientists to do a detailed study of a coastal location. Then a team needs to go back at a later time to do the study all over again to find if there is a change. Your school could try to do such a study, but the experts would question your results and ask could it really be used in 30 years time to measure change.

We can record our coastal environment by taking photographic evidence using digital cameras. To make sure our photographs are of any value to people in the future, we must make sure that each image has enough information. We also need to follow a set of standard rules each time a photo is taken. Then the images must be catalogued and stored so they can be accessed at a later date.
