Spring whale migration back to Antarctica

Each year whales migrate back to Antarctic waters. Baleen whales feed on krill. This year the whale migration seemed to be a couple of weeks early. We weren't expecting to see the many hundreds so early. The most common were humpbacks and orcas also called killer whales. There were plenty of big kids among the massive adult whales.

One group of humpbacks numbered over 120.

There were plenty of orcas. Download the image and see how many orcas are in the photo. Watch out for the smaller kids poking their heads up and the tips of fins.
