Ships and the Marine Environment - Most Efficient Transport

Ships are the most energy efficient form of transport
It would take 800 prime movers (trucks) each pulling two tanker-trailers to move as much oil or petrol as one average oil tanker. Measurements have been made of the goods being transported over long distances in Australia. Ships transport 26.05% of cargo outside cities, rail 42.39%, road 31.5% and the rest is carried by air.	While ships take 26.05% of the cargo they only produce 3% of the greenhouse gases produced by all other forms of transport.
