Curriculum materials

This unit on Investigating Rockpools highlights how the Australian Curriculum: Science can be used alongside teachers’ ‘good teaching practices’ that have been developed over the years.

The unit is organised so students:
  •  Prepare themselves to do a field trip to a rockpool environment
  • Collect data while on their field trip
  •  Present and analyse their data
  • Develop a communication project about the conservation of the marine environment.

The Australia Curriculum is in its final stages of development and is progressively being applied across Australia. The curriculum activities provided will meet many Content Descriptions from year 5 through to year 9. Teachers should identify which content descriptions they wish to assess and strengthen the provided activities and add additional assessment tasks.
