The ship’s chandler receives orders for supplies from the Captain,
Chief Steward and Chief Engineer on board a ship. They order and handle
food, spare parts and other goods needed by the crew to operate the
ship.
The ship’s chandler is the person who communicates between the ship and those on the shore who supply the goods.
