Nature has some of the best ways to clean water. Stormwater ponds are being built to absorb the pollution in the stormwater. A large series of ponds are constructed. They are planted with a variety of native aquatic plants. It’s these plants that absorb the chemicals that would pollute the rivers and sea.

The stormwater drain releases its water into the first pond. As the water moves through the ponds, the aquatic plants make the water gradually cleaner and any soil and dirt can settle out. Any litter gets caught among the dense plants. By the time the water goes into a creek or river, it is much cleaner.
