Oops washing the drivewaywashes dirt into the stormwater
Using a hose can cause dirt, leaves or detergent being washed into the stormwater drain. Under current water conservation regulations it is illegal to use a hose to wash down driveways and paths except in an emergency.
If a hose is used to wash down driveways and paths most of the dirty water will go down the drain.
When cars are washed on driveways, the detergent, grease and grime is likely to go down the drain.
If gardens are over- watered using sprinklers, the soil and fertilisers can also be washed down the drain.
