Lobster
A coral reef is home to thousands of different species of animals. Most would not survive if the coral reef disappeared. These are a few of the animals that live among a coral reef.
Giant clam
They can live for 100 years and grow to over 100 kg.
Snails
Some snails use their hard tongue called a radula to scrape seaweed from rocks. Other snails can use their radula to drill into other shellfish so they can eat them.
Sea slugs
The sea slug is very colourful and swims slowly.
Sea stars
Many types of sea stars crawl around the reef. The suckers, called tube feet, along their arms help them to move.
